This model collectors dubbed the loaf of bread radio, came on the scene with the commencement of post war production. Astor made every part on site, right  down to the nuts and bolts. The station selection method  moved two powdered iron tuning cores  to range up and down in the hollow tubes of  the tuning coils.  This allowed them a little time before the return to making the more complex ganged tuning condensers.  Dealerships came with a thirty three and a third percent protected profit margin.  ASTOR dealers  were in direct opposition to AWA, and in a new area,  if  both options were up for choice, retailers would  have to decide which one they would seek to  join. ASTOR radios were made in South Melbourne, Victoria. The picture of the 1930s earliest Mickey  is yet to be added.
