AWA competed  for the converted leading brand position beside the world famous HMV.

AWA at their (NSW) Homebush Factory  made every component part including the all important valves.

The brown Bakelite  cabineted model was among  the first sets to appear in local shop windows  after wars end.  Wartime shop windows which had been limited to displaying sets which had been traded in, prior to being rebuilt, were now able to feature these shiny new Bakelite  cabinets.  Empty shell display cabinets were nerviously  appearing in display windows as if they were complete set. They even had ONLY  DUMMY  CABINET sign in order to deter an atempt to break the glass. Beside this was anther large sign that offered  FREE VALVE TESTING.
